    Do the equity returns include dividend payments that were provided investors?

      Hi Mark,
      SPY was used to calculate S&P returns. The SPY NAV does not include dividends since they are paid out quarterly to shareholders. Adding dividends back in, gold beats S&P (SPY) in 1 and 3 year average annual return. Gold and S&P close to even in 5 year average annual returns.
